In a democracy, is it a valid claim that a country is deserving of the government it elects?

Yep, but only if the elections are honest and forthright. If our citizens don't consider their vote important enough to cast it, then yes, we deserve the corrupt government we get. However, we also need to have a "none of the above" on every ballot so that we can truly voice our disapproval of the candidates-- most of whom have money or speak for money. Poor Citizens and Middle Cl Citizens need to have a way of talking back and "none of the above" for every office would at least give us a start at fairness.
