Is the acceleration of a projectile equal to zero when it reaches the top of its trajectory? If not, why not?

no its velocity is 0 but its acceleration is still 9.8m/s^2. This is simply because of gravity. If there was not acceleration at the top of the path to change its velocity it would go on forever and never hit the ground.
