Who origly had the song "live like you were dying"?

i heard a song on the radio the other day and i thought it sounded a lot like the script. so i searched it on youtube and found the song by them. but then like 5 minutes ago i saw a commercial for that song by kris allen!! im super confused so if someone knew who actually wrote the song i would be very happy:))
